Special Update Regarding CS-Maps.org

I am very pleased to announce that Warzone Servers has acquired CS-Maps.org. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mike (aka: SQUID) for his hard work and dedication in building CS-Maps.org into the largest CS file archive in the world. He's done a tremendous job and I look forward to continuing to build CS-Maps.org in the future.

Rest assured that the CS-Maps.org file archive will be back up and running as soon as possible. While no changes are imminent right now, I plan to add exciting enhancements to ensure CS-Maps.org remains the premier source for Counter-Strike Maps and files.

Meanwhile, here's a little about us. Warzone Servers are a collection of five elite CS 1.6 servers spread around the US, and are home to the [AiF] clan. Warzone Servers also has a CS community website with very active forums. While we work to rebuild CS-Maps.org over the next week or two please feel free to visit our website, forums and gameservers. If you have any questions about CS-Maps.org or Warzone Servers, feel free to post them on our message board.

As one of the previous co-owners of CS-MAPS I'd like to bring it to someones attention about the shocking state that the cs-maps.org website has been left to turn into.

Nothing has been updated on the site since the change of ownership and it's now completely infested with porn, to the point that I doubt one person visits the forum.

No replies have been left in the site staff forum and I would safely assume it has been abandoned.

Basically I'd rather see you take the site down than let it die a slow death in this manner, it used to be a great and respected website. Plus your name is now associated with a porn-ridden website.

For one thing it was just a few posts in the off topic section so for you to say it is completely porn infested and in a shocking state is totally false and beside that its already been deleted so I think Gant knows what he is doing.

There are other admins there that are deleting the porn, and moving it to the off topic section, it is not happening on it's own. I for one have deleted a few. His description is fairly accurate for right now, I am pretty sure that Gant is working to make the site functional again, it's just taking longer than expected. I kind of agree that the site should be down until the upgrades are done.

Site down time = loss of traffic.

Best to keep it up, even if it's broken. It's retarded, I know, but from a business standpoint. Something is better than nothing.

Not a single input form is properly sanitized, by the way. Except on the forum, the forum seems fine (minus spam, better CAPTCHA is the solution).

I'll post some examples, privately, in the member's only section later.

I understand and appreciate your concern. The rewrite of the file archive system has been much larger and taken much longer than anyone anticipated. It's already being used behind the scenes for file manipulation, and we're within days of going live with the public parts of the system and integrating it into the external website. That will be a huge improvement for visitors in many ways.

Quite frankly, the forums were not widely used for quite a while before I acquired the site. There was a small core group of users, but that was it. As you may know, phpBB is notoriously bad with spam...especially porn spam. That's not unique to cs-maps, you'll see it with just about all phpBB forums on popular websites. I'll look into additional ways to address that, however I may just eliminate those forums at some point.

Rest assured, improvements will be seen very soon. The site is still increasing in unique visitors and pageviews week after week, and once the new file archive script comes online the popularity should increase dramatically.
