Server Viewing Issues
I was just wondering if anyone has had problems with this before, but here it goes...
Since I installed a fresh copy of Win 7 64-bit Pro, I've had issues when in 'View Server Info' on any server in Steam, I can see the player count (up to date) and the latency, but for players it shows Server Not Responding. I've tried all the obvious 'fixes' from setting Port Forwarding on my Linksys Router to allow Steam ports 4380 and 27000-27050 to reinstalling Steam fresh, and even disabled my firewall to help this issue (Steam is an allowed exception), but nothing has worked. It worked very well when I had Win XP SP2 installed on compy. This also goes for BFBC2, cannot see server info. Last edited by B0mb3r645 : 03-19-2010 at 10:03 PM. |

And does the BC2 issue involve not being able to add a server to favorites? I've tried to add ours and just let it go for 30 minutes while I was doing other stuff, but never added. |

Okay, so it goes with my issue then. I'll keep sniffing around, maybe I have a conflicting problem since I moved to Win 7.

64-bit W7 doesn't seem to like a lot of things, but that's not likely the problem since Dj is running the same thing and can browse servers fine. Do you still have the beta installed? They say that can conflict with the game.

I'm running Steam Beta, but this issue was happening even beforehand, with just the regular Steam Client.

Bad Company beta, rather. Not the Steam client.

Oh, gotcha. No, I didn't even install the Beta for BC2. Gotta keep up on these things :P

I dunno, first solution sounds correct. It sounds like you can't write a file or section of memory because of a permissions issue.
Without more information, we can only provide wild swings, trying to get it right.

That's the problem, I've been trying to find more info on the matter, but it is what it is. I can see everything normal except for players in a server. BFBC2 is a little different, not letting me add servers to favorites and not showing players, but that *may* be another issue, but since I'm not currently inclined to play it due to me needing to upgrade my PC a little bit, I'm just working on Steam right now.
And this does go for the Steam in-game server browser, too. As far as a permission issue, it could be, but I'm not sure how. This has been happening with Steam since I installed it on Win 7. I just did nothing about it then, no big matter. But, I would like to get it working, and also to see if it *may* be the cause of my problem with BFBC2 as well. I can, however, view Friends List just fine and see what server a certain player is in, just not able to view the list of players in game. And it worked fine for me before with Win XP SP2. But, just to recap on the problems and fixes: System Info: Windows 7 64-bit Professional Linksys Wireless Router Model WRT54G Firmware v. 8.00.6 Problems: Steam Not showing player list in 'View Server Info' in Steam Browser in-game and out of game. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Not showing player list in Server Info Not being able to add server(s) to Favorites list Attempted Fixes: 1) Uninstall and reinstall (Included deleting all Steam files and downloading a new installer). 2) Switched to the Beta version of Steam. 3) Turned off Windows Firewall (Exceptions included both Steam and BFBC2). 4) Port Forwarded to allow Steam ports 4380 and 27000-27050 (I know this is more of a server connecting issue than it is for my issue, but it was worth it to try). 5) Checked running programs/services running on PC, stopped a few from running again on startup and restarted. 6) Tried running Steam as Administrator. Anyways, hope that looks better now, along with a screenshot.. ![]() Last edited by B0mb3r645 : 03-22-2010 at 03:11 AM. |

On a seperate note, and a free bump, I'm installing BFBC2 now, do I need to install punkbuster to use multiplayer?
